RM10 Million To Rebuild Quarters For Leprosy Patients
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- The Health Ministry has allocated RM10 million to replace 89 dilapidated quarters for leprosy patients at the Sungai Buloh Leprosy Centre here.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the patients would be staying at a hostel until the new quarters were completed at the end of the year.

The construction of the new quarters will start after the hostel is ready, he told reporters after visiting the leprosy centre here Thursday.

He said there were 227 quarters housing 245 leprosy patients at the centre, which was gazetted by the National Heritage Department.

During the visit, Liow presented angpau and hampers to leprosy patients in conjunction with the Chinese New Year festival.

Present was Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.
