PRESS STATEMENT
Official Launch of Global Friendship School
In conjunction with Malaysia’s 50TH Merdeka Celebrations AND visit MalaysiaYear.
Ministry of Youth & Sports is proud to announce its support for the Global Friendship School project, which would be held from the 21st – 26th August 2007 at the Sepang GoldCoast.
This event is a fund-raising charity project cum international students’ get-together camp and it is organized by the Junior Chambers International, Petaling Jaya.
We estimate the project will bring about 300 youths from around Asia including Malaysia.
All participants will attend and participate in this 6 Day/ 5 night camp, which will promote cross-culture exchange and racial integration. In addition, we hope to instill noble values amongst our youths.
The theme chosen for the Global Friendship School is Breaking Social Boundaries.
The programmes during the programme have been developed and lined-up to promote self development in 4 areas namely:
i) Leadership
ii) Entrepreneurship
iii) Friendship
iv) Social Responsibility.
By the end of the camp, we hope that we could instill a sense of self-worth and confidence in our youths.
The programmes in the camp include team building projects, games, problem solving exercises, agro and eco tours, treasure hunt and much more.
The Global Friendship School is open to all youths aged 15 to 21 years old and we welcome registration from all those who are interested.
At the same time, we are also looking for 50 underprivileged youths who wish to participate in the camp. Their participation will be fully-sponsored.
Amongst the criteria we are looking for are:
1) They must be from a low-income family (less than a total income of RM1,500 a month).
2) The participants must be active in sports or co-curriculum.
3) The applicants must obtain good grades and good attendance record in school or any learning institution.
4) The applicants must be Malaysians.

This camp would not happen without the support of sponsors and we are very fortunate to have Sepang GoldCoast as the main sponsor. We comment Sepang GoldCoast for their caring support towards the youth and our community.
The Ministry of Youth & Sports also would like to urge other private sector to emulate Sepang GoldCoast by coming forward as sponsors for this Global Friendship School camp.
Thank you.
