CHRISTMAS DAY MESSAGE
25 December 2017

A very Merry Christmas to my fellow Malaysians celebrating this festive season.

During this holiday, I wish you all a wonderful time as we share in tidings of joy and good cheer with family, friends, neighbours and loved ones. It is my hope that we will all seek to embrace the sense of togetherness that is brought about these gatherings.

Regardless of background, race or creed, we as a Rakyat have all grown up through the years participating in each other’s diverse festivities. Our multiculturalism is a hallmark of our Malaysian-ness, and it is important that we never allow ourselves to take this for granted. We must take a stand against divisive elements, and reject any who would seek to tear apart the fabric of our nation’s unity.

Just as Christmas is a time for sincerity, kindness, and forgiveness, let us come together to sow seeds of harmony and acceptance of one another. These values have been the foundations of growth that built our country in the beginning, and they are the same values that will continue to pave the way for our nation’s onward progress, towards becoming a developed and moderate nation.

I would also like to wish those travelling during this festive season a safe and pleasant journey. Do practice safe driving habits, obey road laws, and be sure to take breaks when necessary.

Happy Holidays to all.
